Contract Assessor –
Wood Manufacturing

About the role

We're seeking experienced professionals from the wood manufacturing industry to support Competenz learners as a contract assessor. You'll assess learners in areas like sawmilling, grading, drying, treatment, finger jointing, and timber machining.

This contract role may require travel across regions to support learners in achieving NZQA unit standards and completing their apprenticeships or traineeships programmes. The contractor will be on flexitime with no guaranteed minimum hours per week.

What you’ll do

  • Assess learners in wood manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with training advisors to plan and schedule visits
  • Travel regionally and across regions to engage with learners and ensure their progress.

What we’re looking for

  • A strong background in wood manufacturing (e.g., sawmilling, timber machining, treating, drying, grading, or finger jointing)
  • Unit standard 4098 is preferred (support is available for the right person to obtain this)
  • Excellent communication skills and flexibility to travel.
