The induction

Our induction programmes help learners hit the ground running, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in their training and beyond. We also guide learners on effective study practices to ensure ongoing progress.

Study groups

Learning is better together. Our study groups offer a space for peer discussion, one-on-one mentoring, and collaborative problem-solving, helping learners enhance their skills in a supportive environment.

Dyslexia

Did you know 10% of Kiwis are dyslexic? Dyslexia doesn’t impact intelligence but can make reading and interpreting text more difficult. Competenz offers tools like the C-Pen Reader, which empowers learners to read, understand, and learn independently. Training advisors can assist learners in accessing this resource.

Literacy and numeracy

Competenz has partnered with a network of specialist providers and tutors to support and grow language literacy, and numeracy skills.

ESOL

For learners whose first language isn’t English, we’ve partnered with English Language Partners (ELP). With in-class and online courses tailored to individual needs, learners can access high-quality support through ELP’s 22 centres nationwide.

Mental health and wellbeing

We understand that learning challenges can impact mental health. That’s why we offer free, confidential counselling services through Vitae. Learners can access 24/7 support, including emergency counselling, to ensure their wellbeing is prioritised.

Chromebooks

Need a laptop for online learning? Eligible learners can apply for a loan Chromebook through their training advisor, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.

If you struggle with any of the above at home, work, or in your on-the-job training, we can help. Reach out to your Competenz training advisor, account manager to learn more.
